‘The End of Democracy as We Know It!’ (G_d Willing.)

The Left claims that the GOP stole the Wisconsin election because they outspent the Dems by eleventy bazillion dollars. That’s how the union bosses, the Occupiers and the party leadership rationalize Tuesday’s failure.

They don’t dare accept the notion that it was their ideas, their ideology and their tactics that were rejected at the polls. They chose the battlefield, the weapons and the timing. They chose poorly.

Dollar bills don’t vote. People vote.

For too long, “Democracy as We Know It” meant secret ballots. If a little friendly arm-twisting dislocated your elbow, brother, maybe you’ll learn to be a smarter voter before the next election. Oh, by the way, pay your dues.

“Democracy as We Know It” meant that you didn’t have join a union, unless you wanted to work. “Right to Work”? Where in the First Amendment does it say that you have a right not to assemble? Oh, by the way, pay your dues.

“Democracy as We Know It” tolerated a back-scratching arrangement between public sector union bosses and the Democratic elected officials who “negotiated” their collective bargaining agreements. And vote the donkey, brother. We will be watching. Oh, by the way, pay your dues.

“Democracy as We Know It” meant legislators would slink out of state to deny a quorum to the people’s duly elected representatives.

“Democracy as We Know It” meant no ballot box integrity. What an affront that a Citizen! of these United States! be asked to identify Him- or Herself! Or only vote once!

“Democracy as We Know It” meant physical occupation of the halls of government and public places by a Leninist/anarchist mob who knew they couldn’t muster the votes. This crowd is too stupid to grok the irony of their Che Guevara designer tees.

Yes, if Tuesday’s vote marks the end of “Democracy as We Know It”, then I feel fine.

Hess Exec Out After Forbes Report On Alleged Russian Mafia Ties – #rsrh

Exclusive: Hess Exec Out After Forbes Report On Alleged Russian Mafia Ties

An executive at Hess Corp.’s Russian subsidiary who has been identified by police and rivals as a leader of the local oil mafia, the Indeitsy, was fired or “voluntarily terminated” apparently less than 24 hours after Forbes first reported the link on Tuesday. Reached on his mobile phone on Thursday, Simon Kukes, the president of Hess’ Russian arm, confirmed that Alexey Veiman, who rose up from being Kukes’ one-time chauffeur to apparently overseeing all construction for the company, w

Be careful with incentives

People have a way of figuring out what benefits them, and doing exactly that.

When the cost of nice clothes and pocket money was added to the $150-$200 in outright bribes that some parents are known to have paid, then the total cost reached a staggering $400.

“More than nine out of ten kids who attended the Children’s Union representatives’ meeting were from powerful and wealthy backgrounds and were willing to pay more money, which led to competition,” the source asserted. “In the end, the selection process resulted in a test separating the lower classes from the upper.”

“People reckon that it had a bad effect on kids who couldn’t participate,” she went on, “and moms complained that classes were being divided distinctly along feudal lines into ‘aristocrats’ and ‘commoners’. They are complaining openly that the new leader is a supporter only for the aristocrats.”

“Participants were given medical treatment, beverages and sweets from the minute they boarded the train, which earned them envy from the parents of children who couldn’t go.”

New N. Korean leader stages children’s rally bit.ly/NKS12R

About 20,000 young people gathered at Pyongyang’s Kim Il Sung Stadium for a speech that capped an unprecedented six-day children’s festival. The celebrations took place two days after North Korea’s military threatened to fire at South Korean media companies unless they apologized for criticisms of the festivities, including a Channel A report comparing the event to Hitler Youth rallies during Germany’s Nazi era. …

“By mingling with kids, Kim Jong Un is showing that he is a leader who can interact with the public,” said Ahn Chan-il, a political scientist who heads the World Institute for North Korea Studies in Seoul, South Korea. “He understands that one of the keys to winning back the respect of the people is by starting with the young generation.”

By speaking publicly twice in his six months as leader, Kim already is distinguishing himself from his father. Kim Jong Il, who died in December, addressed the public only once, two years before he succeeded father Kim Il Sung.

Kim told the children, who were dispatched to Pyongyang for the gathering by plane, train and bus from across the nation, that they were the future masters of “a most powerful country where every home will be full of laughter and everybody lives in harmony.”

Invited to his own crucifixion, fmr EPA official sends ‘regrets’. #rsrh

Former E.P.A. Official Pulls Out of House Hearing

Dr. Armendariz had previously agreed to serve as a witness at the subcommittee hearing. He did not respond to requests for comment on Wednesday.

It went without saying that many expected Mr. Armendariz to face a crucifixion, rhetorically speaking, at the hearing. Its Republican leadership has been sharply critical of the E.P.A.’s efforts to enforce the Clean Air Act and tighten emissions standards.

Solyndra:Obama::Konarka:Romney? Hardly.

In a move that they’ll surely regret, the Obama campaign has called attention to a “green energy” loan to Konarka Power Plastic of Lowell, MA firm while Mitt Romney was governor. They have accused Romney of hypocrisy in his criticism of the Obama Administration’s DOE loan guarantee to Solyndra and other “green energy” firms.

Here’s how the two loans panned out:

Obama Romney
Failed Green Company Solyndra Konarka
“Investment” $535,000,000 $1,500,000
Taxpayer Money Lost $528,000,000 $0
Years to Bankruptcy 2 9
Source of Funds Federal State
Loan Repaid? No Yes
Tied to Wealthy Campaign Donors? Yes No

TobyToon cartoon idea: Driver A is driving 125 mph in a School Zone. While drunk. In a stolen car. Painted like a cop car. Driver B is driving with interstate traffic at 67 mph in a 65 zone. Driver A to arresting trooper: “See? He’s speeding too!”

The analogy is pretty good, except that there’s absolutely nothing to criticize in Romney’s role in the Konarka loan, while everything about Solyndra smells bad. Continue reading
